Acrylic on 8 x 10 wood panel by Warren Deferbrache 2024
An orange weaver hangs on the side of its woven nest, a bright splash of color against the sky. The strands of the nest twist and curl like loose threads on a giant, floating tapestry, each loop and knot a tiny mystery of bird-sized craftsmanship. Is the weaver still mid-construction, fussing over a stray fiber, or are there already hidden eggs tucked safely inside, like secret treasures in a pendulum-shaped cradle? Perhaps a few downy orange weaver juniors are nestled just out of sight, shifting and dreaming as the whole whimsical little world sways gently in the breeze.
