Messing With AI Art

Lately I have been fascinated with AI (artificial intelligence) text to art generators. There are lots of them. Most are free to try. I enjoy it so much I finally paid a yearly fee to use Dream AI App with unlimited creations. BTW I am not advocating or not advocating Dream here it just happens to be the one I use, there are lots of them.

As an amateur artist the AI capabilities can be intimidatingly good. The App creates art based on a number of selectable art types and the words I provide such as “Celestial Typewriter” or “Personal Computer Gun” whatever I want to try. Then the result is created.

Dream always creates 4 works of art per input. With some of the art types such as Watercolor or Flora I can select one that is closest to what I want or that looks interesting and tell the AI to iterate again based on that piece. Sometimes over few or many iteration’s the final piece is perfected and found. Other times I give up and start over.

What I like about the AI art is its child like approach to what I ask for. It is like a child that is also genius artist. What I mean by this is that what I ask for and what comes out is many times surprising similar to asking a child a question. The result can be inspiring or sometimes terrifying or maybe just a twisted mess. All is interesting and I find myself messing with it for hours to try and understand what is going on under the covers. This is partly due to the fact that I am a retired IT guy and AI has always fascinated me.

Anyway I included some of the pieces that I like here. It was hard to pick a sample because I like most of them and have even actually painted one in Acrylic.
