1908 Surveyor’s Transit Box Refurbish

I have had this 1908 Keuffel & Esser transit case and the transit itself for several years. I decided to do a bit of a spruce up without totally refinishing it.

I removed and polished up the brass to make it stand out but left some of the patina on it so it wouldn’t look too new. I then gave it a coat of polyurethane and reattached it.

Removed the center panel of the door and added a painting of a transit to it. I kept painting fairly rough to go with the age of the box. The door itself had some damage which I repaired.

I added a new leather handle. The old one had completely fallen apart
