1880 Death Valley 20 Mule Team Borax Hauler

20 x 16 inches, painted in acrylic on paper from a 1940’s farm ledger. It is surrounded with brass tacks as a decoration and to help protect the paper.

This painting is based on a photograph I took in Death Valley at the defunct Borax mine and museum. These haulers were only used for a few years till a train was built which was much faster. The ledger paper was given to me by a manager where I worked a few years ago in Wichita KS. It is from the farm where he grew up.
